Wall Calendar

Maybe someday this calendar will hang in my home office/library

Still searching....

I am still searching for something (a mirror or picture) to hang over our couch and I like these from cb2. (I would love to hang the pear in my future dining area/room. (of course the leaf is on sale and not the one I really like) Can you hang a pear in a family/TV room?

Avenue Q... A+

This show was hilarious and completely inappropriate (in a good way)! (one of the characters is Gary Coleman from "Different Strokes")

To give you a clue about the show, check out some of the song titles:

"The Internet is for porn"
"If you were gay"
"Everyone's a little bit racist"
"It Sucks to be me"

Next up is Dirty Dancing - I am not sure if I will like this on stage?!?!

Sex and the City: Favorite Looks

This scene took my breath away - when she saw Big at the Plaza Hotel
Before she fell into the pond at the Boathouse in NYC - which made me go to the Boathouse and eat the next time I was in the city.
a beautiful vintage slip
This pin stripe suit is amazing!
only Carrie can pull this off at a wedding

The best prada skirt, ever!
Hello, gucci belt bag!
I love the color combo.
Who else would smoke and ice skate?
I loved this dress and coat!

Check out more looks for each character here or order this book. (Sex and the City: Kiss and Tell even has a list and picture of each person the characters slept with)

LuAnn - you need a history lesson

Today I posted the information below on the blog of LuAnn from the Real Housewives of New York City. (this is my first time responding to her blog) If you watch the show, you have heard this woman claim that her husband's family "gave the Statue of Liberty to the United States" on almost every episode. When I visited the Statue in March, my husband and I went inside the pedestal and read all of the historical information and it never mentioned the de Lessep family. I also thought is was strange that her family just visited the statue for the 1st time (they live in NYC) and it sounded like her kids had never even seen it before. (Her daughter commented on how small it was - which was my comment in 4th grade when I saw it for the 1st time)

This comment is not in response to the LuAnn's above comments. I want to comment on the "Lost Footage" episode that showed the de Lessep family finally visiting the Statue of Liberty. (Which they also say about 100 times their family gave it to the United States) I am from Michigan and have visited the statue 4 times and even climbed into the crown. (and my family did not "gift" it) Also, when you visit the statue there is historical information that says that the French raised the money to build the statue through public fees and a lottery. (The US was in charge of paying for the pedestal) There was even a time when they almost didn't have enough money to finish it. How is this a gift when others (both french and american) paid for it?

Lincoln Park Zoo

Lincoln Park Zoo is a great free thing to visit this summer in Chicago. Check out the calender of events here. I think I might run the 5k United run for the zoo this weekend. (you actually get to run through the zoo and you get a Nike Dri-fit shirt)

I love Bravo TV Part 2!

My love for Bravo TV continues:

Bethenny (from the Real Housewives of New York City) has a blog about Top Chef. (the combines my two favorite shows) Remember the recipe for a skinny girl's margarita?? Bethenny also has Bethennybakes products coming out soon and a cook book. Check out some more of her recipes here.

I also want to try this cheap and healthy recipe (stir fry with whole wheat noodles) from Antonia, Season 4 of Top Chef. (it won the challenge)

scentedglossymagazines also shares my love of Bravo TV! Check out: Housewives and Workout

Restaurants on my radar

Sixteen - in the new Trump tower in Chicago (I just want a reason to go inside the building) According to Oprah's top summer things, the Mar-a-lago turkey burger is the best.
Cru Cafe and Wine Bar - (Dale from last season of Top Chef used to work here)
RL - for lunch and outside dining (I have been here for dinner and thought it was ok/good) I want to try the salad and burger. (here is a menu)

Denise Richards: It's Complicated!

I could not resist watching her new show on E! last night! (and I even got choked up when she spoke about her mom passing away!?!?!) This will be my new show to watch this summer.

bpa free

Good news! Nalgene is now bpa free (but will still have the #7)!!!

Moccasin sandals?!?

I saw Kate Hudson wearing a pair of fringe sandals like these in a magazine (hers were Jimmy Choo- I think) (these are from Urban Outfitters and found via cherylshops)

More shoes...

Remember these?? I blogged about the shoes above (at Bakers for $30.00) and found them at target for $14.99. (keep in mind that the Steve Madden version are $60.00 at Nordstrom)

Stella McCartney straw shoes

I saw these organic shoes last spring and didn't buy them (even though they were on sale).
Now, I can't find them :(

I was checking out nordstrom.com (sale time) today and found my favorite pair of shoes.... and I also saw these dresses:
Marc by Marc Jacobs (Elizabeth on "The View" wore this a few weeks ago)
(I actually like the one above)
Check out the bow! Yikes!

QVC: Drywall hooks

I heard about these heavy duty hanger hooks (QVC Item # V23973) that can hold up to 150 pounds each. (via QVC and an interior decorator) I think I will be ordering a set to hang a mirror over our couch. (and the best part is they don't leave a big hole in your wall)

Sprout Home

I found a new store via BecomingHome that includes the vintage wallpaper giraffe in the nursery I blogged about on Friday. Check out Sprout Home. (and there is a location in Chicago)

DIY headboard

Check out this idea from "Good Housekeeping" for painting a headboard on the wall. And, I love the turquoise lamp in the picture! any ideas where it is from?

Don't get any ideas......

but I love this nursery I found on Becoming Home! I had to post it because I am using my blog as a scrap book for future home ideas. (instead of ripping and saving pages from magazines) (and, for the record, I am not expecting a baby) I also like the items pictured above and here via isuwannee. (especially the Jonathan Adler giraffe lamp)

New blog...new idea

Check out this DIY idea from ikeahacker. You can take any picture and print it out into a large poster at blockposters.com. Great idea!!!

Spotted....in the movie "Iron Man"

I spotted my Eames lounge chair in Tony Stark's (the main character) house in the movie Iron Man. (which is a very good movie!)

Restaurant Review: Margie's Candies

After hearing about this place from foxxychica and semi-hipster homeowner, my husband and I finally tried out Margie's Candies. (I was hoping that it would be Chicago's version of NYC's Serendipity 3.) The decor was very old and brown (although, I like that they have not changed it over the years) and the Tiffany style lamps reminded me of Serendipity 3.

I ordered a chocolate malt and it was good (not as good as Oberweis) - my husband ordered a waffle cone with mint chocolate chip and cookies and cream ice cream. The homemade ice cream was AMAZING and the next time I go back, this is what I will be ordering.

Do I really need these??

I found these shoes from Old Navy via isuwannee.

Cute Dress

I love this dress by Amanda Uprichard in black. available at winknyc.com.
I saw a dress similar to this in SJP's Bitten line at Steve and Barry's. (and it is $8.98)

Tomato Success Kit

Maybe with this kit I can grow tomatoes on my balcony this year!

Organic Cotton

Target's new Go International line will be featuring Rogan starting March 18th. I saw a cute linen dress from this line in the May 2008 issue of Real Simple. (I can't find a picture of the dress online, but here is a sneak peek of the rest.

American Apparel also has organic cotton clothing available here.

I love this balcony

My husband and I looked at a new condo a few weeks ago just to check out new condo construction in Old Town. I fell in love with this balcony! And it looks east, west, and south over the city of Chicago.

Obsessed!

(From P.O.S.H.)
I am obsessed with bedside carafes. I always pick them up in the store and set it back down because I realize I don't need one.....yet. ( I live in a one bedroom condo)

Future Guest Room

I was looking through the Crate and Barrel Summer 2008 Best Buys and saw this vintage Marimekko print bed linens. I can see it now: light blue walls, white furniture, my blue bottle collection on the window, and bright blue floral bedding.

Go Green!

My local farmers markets are open:

Love the one you're with

I have read all of Emily Giffin's books (Something Borrowed, Something Blue, and Baby Proof) and loved them! This new one is out today and I will be stopping by Target to pick it up.

Yummy....Table 52 + Cupcakes

After walking by this place 100 times, I checked out BomBon Americano last week and tried a chocolate cupcake. It was very good (not as good as Crumb's bakery in NYC) and the free water (with fruit in it) was the best! I will be making these cupcakes by the Barefoot Contessa tonight and I can't wait to try them! Also, I will be enjoying Art Smith's mac and cheese tonight at Table 52!! I hope to get a signed copy of this cookbook.
