Reese

Although I love Reese Witherspoon's red carpet style, what I really like is her every day look. She appears to wear most often a variety of 2 outfits:
  • a dress/skirt and cardigan/jacket
or
  • jeans and a cardigan/jacket/t-shirt
And her color palette is very basic (black, grey, brown, blue) with a few colors mixed in with accessories. The most important feature I like about her style (besides the Jcrew/Gap/Anthropologie vibe) is that she actually looks comfortable.

This is my favorite look:
t-shirt dress, cardigan, hat, long necklace, and neutral sandals with fringe (remember the moccasin sandals?)

denim dress

Last summer, I cleaned out my closet and got rid of a gap denim dress that was over 7 years old. My husband called me Becky, as in Becky from "Full House," whenever I wore the dress. Since this purge, I miss the denim dress and have been looking for a replacement. I originally ordered the 1st dress below from Anthropologie, but it didn't fit my body type. The top was too big in the M and the S was a little tight in the bottom. I am thinking that the 2nd dress might be the one. It is from Isaac Mizrahi's new line as creative director for Liz Claiborne.

boyfriend jeans part 2:

Remember my post about Katie Holmes and rolled jeans here? Well, this trend is growing on me.

(image from style.com)
A couple weeks ago I tried on the following jeans at Nordstrom and JCrew. I recommend that everyone should do the same. Why? Because they are all comfortable, flattering, and run large. (I would be lying if I didn't say that it was nice to try on a size 27 and have it fit) I am still deciding which pair to purchase or I might just make my own with an old pair of jeans.

white summer dresses

Target dress below

leather jacket + floral dress

I immediately loved this look when I saw Nicole Richie sporting a little leather jacket over a floral maxi-dress.

Here is a cheaper version from the new Tracy Feith line at Target or try this dress at JCPenney.

I guess in tough economic times people want functional clothing.

And these are also great ideas to take to Mexico. (Kim and Anne)

Sea of shoes

I found this cape via sea of shoes.
I have been addicted to this blog and dreaming of waking up in her closet.
(and being a size 0 - so that I could fit into the clothing)

JCrew final sale

I really try not to make resolutions, unless I know I can actually achieve them.
But this year, I will not miss a Jcrew final sale. I missed the final fall sale online and I have been kicking myself over the sweater (pictured below) ever since. (no luck finding it on ebay)
Another resolution:
try and buy less clothing, but better quality
I am going to checkout the store on Michigan Ave because they offer 30% off. (online = 20%) It is a final sale meaning you can't return an item, which makes it hard to order clothing. I would have ordered more (like the stuff above) if I could return it.
Update: Since I started writing this post at 8am, many items have sold out.
Sorry Semi-hipster Homeowner - the bridesmaid purse is gone (the "satin fleur clutch" to be exact)
I do like this belt to accessorize a bridesmaid dress.
(and you can remove them)

Does anyone have this? I need a small or medium.

As seen on...

the CW's Privileged. This is turning out to be my favorite new show of the season. The clothing and decor is a mix of jcrew, anthropologie, vintage /modern / Hollywood glamour / jonathan adler. Others are noticing this too. (and here, too)

more Christmas sales:

cupcake ornament (yes, I still have my tree up -
and it will probably stay up until next weekend)
Red berry wreaths
I think these wreaths would be cute tied to the back of each chair at a dining room table. (see a few examples here ) Jayson had THE best faux wreaths I have even seen.
silver acorn ornaments and sparkle snow (I love the vintage looking box)

I had never been in Jayson Home & Garden until yesterday. I was going to Trader Joe's to pick up vegetable soup ingredients and decided to walk up to Crate and Barrel Outlet. Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted Jayson Home & Garden. For some strange reason, I have never crossed the street to go inside this store, even though I frequently stop right next to it. Upon entering, I saw a sign that read, "75% off Christmas items." I might go back today.
