Happy Halloween

In honor of Halloween (not one of my favorite holidays):

I will be reading Edgar Allen Poe, watching Charlie Brown, carving my pumpkin, and waiting for Halloween decorations at martha stewart crafts to go on sale. I am also waiting to bid on vintage paper mache pumpkins on ebay. (after Halloween the prices will go down - I hope)

Mittens

Over the years, I have learned that there are some things I just can't change about myself. I love the color red, shoes, purses, antiques, Fiestaware, Martha Stewart, magazines, reading, working out at night (after dinner), and ... mittens. I have tried to wear the nice leather gloves, but I just don't like them. So every fall, I start to hunt for mittens that must be cheap, washable, and warm... that is until I saw these at Bloomingdale's:

At $120.00, these mittens are not cheap or washable. I will stick with Target and H & M for now, and will add Ugg mittens to my Christmas List.

Love for Nie Nie

I have been reading and rereading NieNie's blog over the past 2 months and following her recovery from a plane accident in August. (Stephanie received burns on 83% of her body) I originally heard about the blog on the Today show and I have been hooked every since. Now, I am going to buy a t-shirt to help raise money for the Nielson family. Go here for more info.

Boot shapers

Last winter, I finally updated my tall black boots that I had for over 7 years. I took it a step further and purchased brown tall boots too. (I now have 2 black and 2 brown - 1 high heel and 1 short heel of each) I heard about this boot shaper in a magazine and set out to find them at the end of winter. (not a good idea because they were sold out at the container store) I went to BBB and and bought the last pair. Fast forward to now: I found 3 more at BBB and used a $10.00 of coupon ($9.99 per pair - so I got one for free) I hope to make my boots last for as long as possible!

Southport Green Market

I plan on making my way to the Southport Green Market on Saturday, while my husband rests for the marathon. (at Southport and Grace) It sounds like the market is a mixture of food/arts and crafts. I am hoping to find this jewelry maker.

Tori Spelling's house tour

I will admit that I like watching Tori and Dean Inn Love and Home sweet Hollywood on oxygen. Check out the new house tour here. I really like the framed pictures going up the staircase and the all white bed. (picture from oxygen.com)

Pumpkin Patch Pan

I stopped by crate and barrel on the way home from jury duty and picked up this. I plan on making low cal/ low fat pumpkin muffins this weekend. Here is the recipe I follow:

1 box of Spice cake mix
1 can of pumpkin
1 egg white

Mix together, put in muffin pan, and bake according to the box.
Mix together OJ and powdered sugar (until it is like cinnamon roll topping consistency) and drizzle over the top of cooled muffins.
Makes 24 muffins (2 weight watcher points each or around 110 calories)

FFANY Shoes on Sale

On Wednesday, October 15th, QVC will be having a 3 hour shoe sale (7-10pm EST) that will benefit breast cancer. I plan on eating Honey Nut Cheerios for dinner in front of the TV and ordering a pair of shoes. Speaking of benefits, I have also been following the blog nieniedialogue and recently purchased these earrings to benefit the Nielson family. (the family has also been on the Today Show and in People magazine)
